With the goal of revitalizing and recuperating knowledge of ancestral Argentine culture, El Ceibal promotes productive craftsmanship within the concepts of sustainable development. To this end, it has consolidated a network of artisans of textile arts in Santiago del Estero and the Valles Calchaquíes: The Ruta del Tejido. The work of El Ceibal is to present vocational workshops in administration, organization, design, craftsmanship, and marketing; to help establish direct and indirect marketing circuits; integrate into the project people with special talents; offer artisans consultation services in organizational and technical areas; and promote improved care for animals, with the aim of producing more and better raw materials.It has been more than a year since its inauguration in the city of Santiago del Estero, and the cultural center Ruta del Tejido is the second local organization devoted to the exhibition and sale of textile handicrafts. One can find the first in Tafí del Valle in Tucuman province. Tejiendo la Vida and Huarmis Yamacadoras (Women Workers) are the two groups of artisans that participate in this enterprise. In their locales, they show not only the production of finished textiles, but also the entire productive process. Moreover, they offer space to small producers of basketry and ceramics.La Ruta del Tejido is a window through which society can appreciate a craft that, from generation to generation, has maintained its strength and reinforces a feeling of importance and identity. Ancient tools like looms and racks allow cotton fibers and chaguar, the sheep’s wool thread and natural dyes to become tapestries, wallets, belts, tablecloths and dolls.Last July, the project was presented in the fourth edition of the fair, Caminos & Sabores, which is held annually in La Rural.Currently, La Ruta del Tejido brings together more than sixty women who together produce a form of association and for whom the project represents additional income to the family economy. Moreover, there are some 100 women involved in the social, cultural and gender proposals.The artisans are preparing courses in textile craftsmanship to communicate their knowledge with all those who want to share and learn the techniques of this ancient art. They believe that many traditions are being lost and that "it is important to preserve the culture, so that those who come know where they come from and where they are going."They have also developed a line of specialty products for the gift business segment of the market. In addition to the support of El Ceibal, Ruta del Tejido counts on the support of the Inter American Foundation (IAF), the Programa Social Agropecuario (PSA), the Gatti Workshop, and the AVINA foundation

Ayant pour objectif de revaloriser et récupérer les savoirs ancestraux de la culture argentine, El Ceibal promeut l’activité artisanale productive dans le cadre des concepts de développement durable. Pour cela, est stimulée la consolidation d’un réseau d’organisations d’artisans de l’art du textile à Santiago del Estero et les Vallées Calchaquies : c’est la route du textile.L’objectif d’El Ceibal est d’apporter aux ateliers une formation administrative, d’organisation, de design, techniques artisanales et de commercialisation ; d’aider à établir les circuits de commercialisation autant direct qu’indirect ; d’intégrer au projet des personnes ayant leur spécialité ; d’offrir aux artisans un service de conseil pour les tâches techniques et d’organisation ; et de favoriser une meilleure production avec pour but d’obtenir plus et de meilleures fibres.Il y a un peu plus d’un an, s’est inauguré dans la ville de Santiago del Estero le Centre Culturel de la Route du Textile, deuxième lieu d’exposition et de ventes d’artisanats textiles. Le premier se trouve à Tafí del Valle, province de Tucuman.Tissant la Vie et Huarmis Yamacadoras (les Femmes Travailleuses) sont deux groupes d’artisans qui participent à ce projet. Dans les lieux de vente, on ne propose pas seulement la production textile sinon également le processus productif. De même, un espace est offert aux autres petits producteurs de vannerie et céramique.La Route du Textile est une vitrine pour que la société puisse apprécier un travail qui, de génération en génération, a maintenu sa vigilance et a renforcé le sentiment d’appartenance et d’identité.Les outils ancestraux comme les métiers à tisser, permettent aux fibres de coton et de chaguar, le fil de la brebis et les colorants naturels de se transformer en tapisserie, sacs, ceinture traditionnelle, tapis, couverture et poupées.Au mois de juillet passé, le projet était présent à la quatrième édition de la foire Chemins et Saveurs qui se réalise tous les ans à la Rural.Actuellement, la Route du Textile réunit plus d’une soixantaine de femmes qui produisent de façon associative. Cela représente pour elle un revenu complémentaire pour le maintien du foyer. De plus, il y a une centaine de femmes engagées dans cette proposition sociale, culturelle et de genre.Les artisans organisent aussi des cours de tissage pour partager leurs connaissances avec toutes les personnes qui souhaitent partager et apprendre les techniques de cette activité ancestrale.Ils croient que beaucoup de ces traditions se perdent et qu’ « il est important de préserver la culture, pour que tous sachent d’où ils viennent et où ils vont ».Est développée également une ligne de produits spéciaux pour les cadeaux d’entreprise.En plus de l’aide d’El Ceibal, la Route du Textile bénéficie des fonds de la IAF – Fondation Inter Américaine -, du PSA – Programme Social Agricole -, de l’Atelier Gatti et de la Fondation AVINA.
